YOU COULD BE THE NEXT MICHAEL WINSLOW

Michael Winslow is of course the "Man of 1000 Sound Effects". Granted, I'm not sure an official from the International Sound Effects Federation ever actually sat down and counted all the sounds to make the title legit but either way, if you check out some of his recent clips I don't think anyone's going to doubt his claim.

After seeing a 2011 video of Michael performing Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love" I was reminded that Michael's talent is truly both a blessing and a curse. What he can do with his voice is absolutely astonishing, yet it's mostly useless on many levels thanks to technology. Despite those realities, one thing is undeniable- his talent is truly one of a kind... or is it?

Michael is currently running a contest on his website looking for the next great sound effects master. Why is he doing this I wondered. Is it possible there is another chosen one out there? Or is this just an elaborate ruse designed to remind us all that there can only be one true master- and his name is Michael Winslow.

Now go check out Michael's site and enter the contest. Then listen to him make the sounds of breaking glass, a panda eating bamboo and at least 4 different kind of blenders. (Actually I'm not sure he does those sounds, but I bet he could!) You'll be astonished, and sort of confused, but definitely entertained.
